B&H Publishing and Dr. Karen Swallow Prior have published a number of literary classiscs in beautiful new hardcover editions. These editions are from the series “A Guide to Reading and Reflecting (Read and Reflect with the Classics).
Each novel includes helpful chapters on the author and the background of the novel, and each chapter concludes with reflective questions designed to guide the reader to think about the story on a deeper level. Further questions are posed in the appendices. These added materials help the reader to engage with each work from a Christian worldview.
These books are a great addition to any Christian filmmakers library. Each novel has been adapted into a movie at one time or another. Karen’s insights into the characters, drama, and themes help to not only grasp the story, but are instructive for good storytelling.
